MTSU Students Earn Free L-Acoustics Certifications in Audio Technology
By MediaFx
MTSU students in the Recording Industry program are earning free professional audio certifications through a partnership with L-Acoustics, a global leader in audio technology. The collaboration, part of L-Acoustics’ Education Partner Program launched in February 2026, integrates industry training and certification into coursework without additional fees. Students in RIM 4335, Advanced Sound Reinforcement, are now accessing L-Acoustics training materials, software, and discounted equipment to prepare for careers in live sound and concert production. Faculty member Frank Baird emphasized the value of real-world certifications, noting they enhance resumes and provide industry connections. The partnership also includes visits to L-Acoustics’ Nashville office, which opened in spring 2026, offering students hands-on experience with state-of-the-art systems. The department plans to expand the program to other courses, building on the current certification in Advanced Sound Reinforcement.
