Early Voting in Nashville Hits 19,000 on Final Day, Still Below 2018 Levels

By MediaFx

Voters in Nashville turned out in large numbers for the final day of early voting, with over 19,000 casting ballots in Davidson County. The busiest day in more than two weeks saw polls stay open until 9:26 p.m., with the Southeast Library precinct in Antioch closing last. Despite the late surge, turnout remains below 2018 levels, when 36.4 percent of voters had participated by the same point in the election cycle. Davidson County reported 29.8 percent turnout so far, with 143,849 voters casting ballots. Election Commission Administrator John Richardson noted the strong finish could signal a positive trend for Election Day turnout. Statewide, early voting participation was down 9.95 percent compared to 2018, though 10 counties were outpacing their 2018 numbers. Voters can still cast ballots for U.S. Senate, Congress, governor, and other statewide races on Election Day, which runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (CST).
